practicing dao te ching

Join author and Tao Te Ching scholar Solala Towler as he presents this six-week online course on the Tao Te Ching. Using his popular book Practicing the Tao Te Ching: 81 Steps On the Way, published by Sounds True, Solala will be presenting this ancient text in a new way. Not only will he give background on how the text was written, but drawing on his 30 years of study of the Taoist arts, Solala will present the Tao Te Ching in the way Taoists have used it for thousands of years: as a manual for self cultivation.

The Tao Te Ching is actually full of practices and we will be doing many of them in this course. This will be an opportunity to go deeply into this ancient and important text.

Solala Towler has practiced and taught Taoist meditation and qigong for more than 30 years. He is author of Practicing the Tao Te Ching: 81 Steps On the Way, Tales From the Tao, The Tao of Intimacy and Ecstasy, Cha Dao: The Way of Tea and many more. He was editor/publisher of The Empty Vessel: The Journal of Daoist Philosophy and Practice, for 25 years. He leads tours to China to study qigong and Taoist meditation in the sacred mountains of China.

This course will begin on Wednesday, September 8 and continue each Wednesday for 6 weeks. Each session will run from 5-6 pm (Pacific Standard Time), with time at the end of the session for questions. The course will be recorded on Zoom, so if you miss a session, or want to revisit it, a recording will be made available to everyone who signs up.

The cost for this six-week course is $65.

“Towler’s approach to the Tao Te Ching reveals the quintessence of the study. Taoism relies upon practice, the cultivating of innate nature, and the preservation of life force. Under his guidance, anyone can deepen their practice as well as digest the core meaning of this classic.”
Hu Xuzhou, author of Revealing the Tao Te Ching
